Say What?

CAPITOL HILL -- The U.S. Senate confirmed Priscilla Owen to a federal appeals court after four years of waiting.

The vote of 56-43 came a day after the Senate broke a Democratic filibuster as part of a deal brokered by moderates.

.............

Two Democrats voted for Owen: Sens. Robert Byrd and Mary Landrieu. Rhode Island Sen. Lincoln Chafee, a Republican, voted against her.

Byrd help hammer out the filibuster compromiose, which required that the Dems vote up certain judges in return for the Rs taking certain ones off teh list. Thats all there is to it. Its not a "red state/blue state" campaign thing. Jeeze, read the papers Fred.

"More moderate"?

Up until Bush shoved this joke of a war down America's throat, Byrd was pretty much a Democrat In Name Only.

In ways not related to the war, he still is.
