Toyota Snubs the U.S. in locating a plant in Canada
The Japanese are building a huge new Toyota Rav-4 production plant in Canada. Why Canada?Read it for yourself.
First and foremost, Canadians have better basic educations than folks in the southeastern states, and, no doubt, West Virginia. It's difficult to train illiterates the Toyota folks say. And we have too many of them.
But, the story continues, the cost of labor is less in Canada because of the national health care in that country. Because of it, Toyota can pay $4 to $5 less an hour because the company doesn't need to pay for health care.
The the neo-cons say that national health care is BAD BAD BAD.
Who would have thought that national health care is part and parcel of economic development?

Nationalizing healthcare is the answer and demobilizing the lawyers is another.
gee dave I thought you were off to Japan cause unemployment is so low, so now your off to Canada? Let us know how your next prostrate operation goes up there after you wait around 9 months for your turn.

Pensions and healthcare are big problems. Foreign companies are able to compete better because they don't have the baggage that American companies do.
We've got to look at a national healthcare plan.
It's interesting to see Toyota relocating to Canada over providing health insurance for the employees.
